Web & Social Media

For El Estoque’s event coverage, I collaborated with a co-writer to make a social media post on Main Street’s Country Cougars concert, part of their annual Live on Main event, which features different band performances every Friday for six weeks. We photographed attendees enjoying the performance, dancing, and the band performing on stage. From this, I learned interview skills, since we interviewed a line dance instructor and I also improved on candid photography skills, by capturing moments live, while still enjoying the concert.

This post includes photos from the MVHS Homecoming Rally, held on Oct. 10, 2025. The event was full of school spirit, with students competing and celebrating in a fun, energetic way. While taking photos, I faced a challenge when my camera ran out of charge midway through. I adapted by using my strongest shots from earlier in the event and borrowing a friend’s camera when possible. My co-writer also took strong photographs, and together we selected the best images from both of us to include in the final post.

This post covers the Monta Vista-Lynbrook Marching Band’s annual Home Show and Senior Night on Nov. 18, an event full of performances and heartfelt goodbyes. It was a strong end to the season, with applause filling the background and pieces from past performances incorporated into the show. Covering this event made it easy to take several photos, as I could move freely on the field and get up close. One challenge, however, was capturing the fast-moving moments during performances and editing the photos afterward.

This post focused on Monta Vista's Varsity Boys Soccer match against Lynbrook, which ended in a 1-1 tie. My co-writer and I worked together to split the photos fairly, however, we ran into an issue when my co-writer's camera wasn't working, so we had to ask other reporters there for help and troubleshoot. It was also difficult for me at first to capture action shots during the fast-paced game since this was my first time covering a game. But it eventually turned out okay, as we scavenged photos and prioritized getting the best quotes for our ABCD caption. This was easy to do, as we had already interviewed several team members after their post-match discussion.
